Ladainhas
Ladainhas (litany in English) are a long solo with no chorus response. Typically, every Capoeira Angola roda starts with the mestre singing a ladainha before the game starts. During it, the players do not play; they remain crouched and listening at the foot of the berimbau. The ladainha typically recounts history, tells a myth, or transmits a message.
Louvação/Chula
The Louvação/Chula (Praise or tribute in English) is the call and response section sung immediately after the Ladainha or the Quadra.
Despedidas
Despedidas are used as a way to say farewell to the players that have joined the roda.
Berimbau Toques
The toques are the rhythms played on the berimbau. Many toques are associated with a specific game i.e. style and speed of play.
