What we bring
Music
The traditional music of Capoeira Angola is sung in Portuguese and through the songs, the oral history of the art, its practitioners and other important elements of Afro-Brazilian history are shared.
Our music sessions are engaging and fun. Children learn timing, rhythm, and how to play multiple percussion instruments.
Movement
Each class is structured around the fundamental movements of Capoeira Angola. The sessions are interactive, challenging, adaptive and are designed to work with the gross motor skills of children. We include a range of activities and animal style movements which support in learning the art of Capoeira Angola and promote healthy bodies.
“Jamie led an engaging and enjoyable capoeira workshop for children across the school, from Year 1 to Year 6. The children were interested and enthusiastic throughout, participating actively in the sessions and responding really well to his approach. They particularly enjoyed listening to the traditional instrument and learning about its role in capoeira. Jamie demonstrated excellent knowledge and passion for his subject, sharing his expertise in an accessible and engaging way that catered well to the different age groups. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience a new cultural art form, and it was wonderful to see them so involved and enthusiastic throughout. Thank you, Jamie, for delivering such an enriching and memorable experience!”

Critical Thinking
A key part of playing Capoeira Angola is criticality in movement. The game is often viewed as a conversation and it is through the question and answer nature of Capoeira. Alongside this, we can provide assemblies and sessions which incorporate critical thinking skills.
