*Camungerê is a Brazilian greeting word – often used as capoeira greeting song especially when teachers or students of one group enter the roda of another.

** vosmicê is the way that você (you) was used in Brazil’s colonial era. It is a contraction of vossa mercê which was a form of ‘you’ that was used informally amongst people that had little to no authority in society. In this context, it is being used as a way of remembering the ways that enslaved people were spoken to differently by the colonial powers.
